Michael Burrows
Managing Director

Michael Burrows is an electrical engineer who brings over 35 years’ experience to his role as our Managing Director. After gaining a Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Ulster University in the late 1970s, Michael began his career with Short Brothers in Belfast.

Since then, he’s worked with many companies both in Northern Ireland and across the globe, including Anglovaal Group in South Africa, FIN Engineering, Veolia and Bombardier. Whilst in South Africa he gained his Electrical Engineer’s Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works), and he now also holds a National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).

Keen to address Northern Ireland’s skills shortage in the field of high voltage power supply, Michael founded Horizon in 2015. Feeling that it’s important to give something back, Michael is planning to launch Horizon Training School in the near future to share his expertise, as well as delivering City & Guilds approved high voltage and low voltage switchgear training courses to companies across Northern Ireland and further afield.

Outside work, Michael is a keen follower of Ulster and Ireland Rugby. He also enjoys going to local theatre and musical theatre productions.
