Electrical and Carbon Training Academy

Horizon Engineering Solutions Electrical and Carbon Training Academy is Northern Ireland’s only facility for City & Guild's Assured, High and Low Voltage systems Training. Engineers and Technicians with the necessary aptitude and qualifications can undertake Training to further their engineering careers by maintaining their competence.

Operating HV and LV switchgear can be a potentially dangerous activity, and it is vital that only competent and confident Engineers and Technicians carry out HV and LV switching operations. We understand the importance of keeping HV and LV switchgear knowledge current through regular practice and development of skills in a safe environment.

Maintaining Competence is a key requirement of the Electricity at Work Regulations, and we help organisations to support their Engineers and Technicians by providing appropriate initial Training as well as refresher Training at regular intervals. Above all, we instil the planning, professional discipline and routine associated with HV and LV switching operations to ensure Engineers can carry out their work safely.

Who should attend these courses?

Delegates who are to be appointed under safety rules with responsibility for the operation, isolation and maintenance of Electrical infrastructure.

Those who may be nominated as a Competent or Skilled Person within their organisation and need to demonstrate the appropriate level of experience of Electrical systems and Electrical principles and theory of safe operation.

We’re uniquely flexible with our Training, and we can deliver the Management Awareness, Low Voltage Competency and Access to Substations and Switchrooms Courses on Client’s premises.

Bespoke Training

We work directly with our Clients to develop Bespoke Training that meet the needs of their business. We will develop both online classroom and practical simulated courses if requested.

Carbon Training

We provide a ½ day Carbon Management Awareness course suitable for both Management and Supervisor level that will support your team development to meet corporate targets and your Legislative requirements.

We provide experienced Senior Electrical Engineers to Coach and Mentor your onsite team to manage your site shutdowns in a Safe and Compliant way. We are always at the end of the phone to support your onsite team.

This service also includes Arc Flash Testing and Protection studies for your Electrical infrastructure.

We will help you minimise and manage the risk of Arc Flash in your business and comply with Legislation by completing an Arc Flash Audit.

We also complete Earthing and Protection Grading Studies to ensure the right High Voltage Electrical Protection is in place.

We provide experienced Electrical and Mechanical Project Engineers to deliver sustainable project solutions to enhance your Overall Equipment Performance.

We provide experienced Project Engineers to guarantee the long term Project Requirements are delivered to our Clients. We manage Projects on behalf of our Clients and ensure that the Costs, Scope and Schedules are achieved.
